About

I’ve always been fascinated by other languages and, at various ages and levels, studied Latin, French, German, Russian, Chinese and Portuguese. I have a degree in French and Linguistics and a Dip TEFL.

In my twenties, I worked in Geneva, Switzerland as a graphic artist. In my thirties, I became an EFL teacher and also started my own summer school.

I always wrote a lot of my own teaching material but in my forties, I began writing EFL teaching and testing material for major providers. Since then, I’ve been writing at CEFR levels from A0 to B2, (general and business English) virtually full time. My favourite level at which to work is pre A1 to A2 and you’ll see that I’m the author and co-author of official preparation materials for Starters, Movers and Flyers tests and of a course book aimed at A1/A2 levels and a test prep book for Key for schools.

In my fifties and sixties, I’ve travelled abroad many times as a presenter, sponsored by Cambridge Assessment English or Cambridge University Press to talk to educators about teaching young students of English. I was also invited to speak at IATEFL in 2015 and 2017 and have presented webinars.

That’s me in a nutshell!

I really hope you’ll find the ideas here useful and the website easy to use.
